Due to glycosylation of soft tissues and reduced activity, people with diabetes are at higher risk for developing foot-related deformities, which amplify this cycle.4–6 This is particularly true in the Achilles tendon,4–8 which leads to equinus deformity, increasing forefoot pressure.

Comparing the Effect of New Silicone Foot Prosthesis and Conventional Foot Prosthesis on Plantar Pressure in Diabetic Patients With Transmetatarsal Amputation

Objective Diabetic foot ulcers are significant complications of diabetes that can lead to amputation. Partial foot prostheses can be used to redistribute the plantar pressure on the residual limb to alleviate local pressures and prevent re-amputation at more proximal levels. The current study aimed to describe the fabrication of an original silicone foot prosthesis designed for a diabetic patie...

Evaluation and Optimization of Therapeutic Footwear for Neuropathic Diabetic Foot Patients Using In-Shoe Plantar Pressure Analysis

OBJECTIVE Therapeutic footwear for diabetic foot patients aims to reduce the risk of ulceration by relieving mechanical pressure on the foot. However, footwear efficacy is generally not assessed in clinical practice. The purpose of this study was to assess the value of in-shoe plantar pressure analysis to evaluate and optimize the pressure-reducing effects of diabetic therapeutic footwear. RE...
